Scenario: The Roman Spa Hot Springs Resort is located in the charming historic town of Calistoga, California. The hotel’s previous site was pretty generic, lacking any focus towards customer needs and local area attractions. The site was not optimized, and did not include any customer-centric packages or unique selling points.
Optimization Process: Milestone identified a core group of 10 to 15 reasons why people visit Napa and Calistoga. Milestone created a new website based on the most sought after keyword phrases and the unique selling points for the property. After extensive area research, Milestone realized that alot of people are looking for specific area attractions, such as hot air balloons, spas and wine tasting tours. Milestone created hotel packages, in cooperation with area venues and activities, to attract travelers to their website . . . and the results were outstanding.
Milestone created customer-centric packages - like sensational spa, bed and breakfast, wine country touring, romantic weekend getaway, wedding, and hot air balloon packages, plus several others. In addition, Milestone created a new, organically optimized site and focused on increasing link popularity. Milestone spent minimal resources on pay-per-click advertising and paid campaigns. Search engine marketing is not all about buying pay-per-click inclusion in search engines; it’s about identifying markets and the interests of travelers and creating sites that satisfy their travel preferences.

Scenario: The Surfside Hotel and Suites is an independent waterfront property located on Cape Cod Bay in Provincetown, Massachusetts. This seasonal hotel, open during summer and Fall seasons, was lagging behind in their web presence because they did not target the reasons why people visit Cape Cod.
Optimization Process: Milestone worked with Surfside’s general manager to identify key reasons why people visit Provincetown. Milestone saw huge opportunities to market to specific niches, such as people looking for gay and lesbian accommodations, and pet friendly lodging. Additionally, a Manager’s Special page was created just to ensure that the hotel site was offering the absolute lowest rates on their site. The GM can post and/or change these special rates and packages based on inventory themselves. Milestone optimized all the pages organically by including relevant links that point back to the website and increase page rank.
Results: The Surfside Hotel and Suites has received a tremendous amount of success with their new packages, specials, and information page coupons. In fact, the hotel has received such a large number of calls that they have started referring those calls to other sister properties.
